A long overdue check in

I can't believe it's been 9 months since I've posted anything.  I guess that's the best sign that my new normal is in effect now.  It doesn't feel like it but I guess the proof is here.

So, updates.  I finally made it to a 6 month monitoring plan.  That felt great and scary at the same time.  The doctor reassured me that nothing would change fast enough that waiting an additional 3 months would affect. And that 6 months ends in a few weeks.  Which, of course, means the stress is kicking in again.  I will admit that I don't think I'll get another pass on biopsies. My husband and I both have spots, different ones, that are troublesome to look at.  We'll see what the doc thinks but she usually errs on the side of removing them.

What else is new..... my eating is finally settling in to a more positive habit.  I'm pretty much vegan, most days, as long as you don't count alcohol.  Oh well, it's my vice and I haven't decided to give it up yet.  I do drink far less than I used to and I make better choices when I do. When people ask "how" I eat, I don't tell them vegan, I tell them "plant strong."  I subscribe to the Whole Food, Plant Based way of eating.  (No meat, no dairy, no added oils and food as close to it grows in dirt as possible) It comes after doing a lot of research on how plant based foods make a huge difference in cancer cells and their development.  The best and most concise explanation comes in the documentary, "Forks Over Knives."  If you are a cancer patient, or anyone else for that matter, the China Study book should be required reading.  Both of these things summarize hundreds of hours of reading and researching I've done since my original diagnosis.  I haven't pushed this eating on anyone, even my husband, but I believe strongly in it.  Everyone must make their own choice and this is mine.  You make your own. Just sharing what is working for me.

I have been flirting with joining a gym for the last 3 months.  I'm pretty set on where I'm going to go and honestly, I'm waiting for the Resolutionists to drop in numbers. I'll probably start next this week or next, probably next since both of the boys' sports schedules start this week. Adding a third thing seems like too much added stress and I try not to do that.  I'll sign up, pay my fees, and be all set to go next week. I'm hoping to get my first runs in this week though since my heel isn't so painful. I had an awful case of plantar faschiitis (or however it's spelled) back in December and I never want to do that again.  I have a new puppy to run with and I can't wait.  He's such a great addition to our family.

I think that's the significant stuff.  I promise to not let so long go by again without updates.  Thanks for being patient with me as I adjust to my NED status.
